Goodbye 2018

I thought as I did a best of nine on my Instagram it would be a good idea to share with you some of the highs on my blog this year.

As you can see there is a lot of cake, anyone would think I loved cake.

The beginning of this year has seen me go back on all my medication for my fibromyalgia along with dragging myself out of a low patch.

I have made some lovely bits for our home

Then there were chocolate gooey muffins which are my all time favourite

Recipe here if you fancy trying them.

The garden got a makeover with the pergola being built, fencing and new gate along with new table and chairs which I absolutely love.

Down the allotment path was the new project I took on back in July which was probably the best decision ive made in a while. Which has given me my own space to think, along with the fresh air and something I can really enjoy. “Something for me”

If you have been following me for a while you will know I love Mary Berry and I have almost all of her cookbooks. This was a family favourite that I have made a few times over the year Panang Chicken and stir fry rice, its great for a midweek meal and easy too.

Recipe here if you fancy it

In August I decided enough was enough I was fed up of looking and feeling fat and so unfit, but I did not know where to start so that’s when I joined slimming world, Which helped me look at food in a brand new way, I then started the couch to 5k and I completed in November which I was so proud of myself to say I can actually run was an amazing feeling I’ve never been able to run,

I found I was enjoying the exercise more than the slimming world where I got more out of it. I could see a massive result from exercising, I lost just over a stone and a half and I felt good about myself again.

I then decided to stop slimming world and concentrate on more exercise I have struggled to keep running in the cold I’m having trouble with my breathing. So I will be joining the gym in the new year and possibly a spinning class.

My first ever run

We had a sad event this year when we had to say goodnight to our cat Poppy who was 13 she had cancer, We have had her since she was a kitten so she has been a part of our family for a long time, I’ve never had to do put a cat to sleep before and I can honestly say it broke my heart. We got a Christmas bauble with her name on it from Sarah who has an Instagram account called Beautiful simplicity Design she does have an Etsy account too I will pop the links here IG – ETSY

The Bathroom makeover was very much needed as we have always patched up repainted etc so we had saved for this to be done and I love it.

We were lucky enough to go to the Edinburgh Christmas market with our friends too which was fantastic I loved it.

Then Christmas

I love Christmas and this year I really wanted to share with everyone how I get organised and what I bake and make throughout December which I shared with you all on my Instagram page and here on my Blog, I was so taken back by some of the messages that I received saying thank you for sharing and helping you through Christmas. I only shared what I do every year, It went down well and I was so pleased to help you even if you took on one tip or made one recipe or just made you think that you could make something. And help you not feel so stressed, Then I have achieved what I set out to do.

Thank you to everyone that supported my blog and Instagram page.

Christmas was different for us this year and there will be a few changes next year as the kids are getting that bit older now, and don’t get up at the crack of dawn anymore so I’ve made notes on what to change and how for next year already. Apart from that,it was lovely to just spend the day with good food surrounded by the most important people in my life.IMG_0052IMG_0053

There have been so many things this year to smile about along with all the sad but I’m so grateful to be able to make these memories.

As we say goodbye to 2018 and Hello to 2019 it’s a time to reflect on the year we’ve had and to prepare to make more memories for the upcoming year. To plan ahead, Days out trips away spending time with people we love and live life to the fullest as we only get one shot at it. To be Happy within our own bodies to love ourselves so we can then love others.

Thank you for sticking with my blog this year it really means a lot to me to be able to share with you all that I do its something I’m very passionate about.

As you raise a glass tonight remember the ones who can’t be here who are watching down on us I sure have a few glasses to raise and remember you are lucky you have a life now go live it.

Happy New year

Love Claire Xx

  1. Hi Claire,
Love this summing up of your year! Makes me want to do the same. See what I’ve done and where I’ve been.
Thanks so much for your year of encouragement and for sharing your family life. It’s been fun to see all you’ve done!! And you’ve done a lot! I’ve really enjoyed your allotment journey, the baking, your running and weight loss goals being met!! Amazing!!! So well done!!! The Christmas planning, so fun!

My goal for 2019 is to start exercising again. My balance isn’t what it should be, so I figure working my core is what’s needed. I have a gym membership but haven’t been going! What’s that about!?!? Need kick in the rear! Being healthy is so important!! I also want to make sure I keep in closer touch with my kids, three boys, one step-son, so four. All grown. All but one live close. He is in Montana. We keep in touch with him on Skype. I love that technology!!
And as always, I work on being more kind and loving, (I can be kinda feisty, ask my hubby, lol. 😉). Can’t get enough of that in this world!! 💕
See ya on the flip side Lady!!

    Love and hugs,😘❤❤❤

    1. Hello Annie,
Thank you so much my Blog is like a big diary for me at times, and somewhere to share my little world. Good luck with your goals and remember only set goals that are achievable and I like monthly goals Like you haven’t been to the gym set it in your diary to at least go once a week or just cancel it. And defienietly building up your core will help improve balance and the rest of your body.
Good luck with it and make sure whatever you do be happy with it. I love that you are a bit feisty theres nothing wrong with that at all. Happy new year to you and your Family

      Love Claire xx

  2. Hi Claire,
I’m a new subscriber after following you on Instagram for a while and enjoyed your reflection of your year.

2018 was a year of ill health for me but as we headed into December I finally started to recover and started to feel well again. 2019 year will be a great year, I’m continually learning how best to look after myself and am heading back to the gym and started yoga to continue on my healthy path.

Wishing you and your family a very happy 2019 filled with love, happiness, health and wealth.
