A Traditional Birthday Cake

Hello,

 Its my hubby’s birthday I thought I would make him a yummy treat his favourite Cake “Victoria sponge” yes you may think its a little bit simple but you can add some fresh cream for that bit of indulgent, and you can never tire of a good ole “Victoria sponge” for any quick cake you need to do in a hurry and always a crowd pleaser. And I’m sure the majority of you reading this post will be I’ve made this a thousand times and you will all have your own little methods and recipes that work for you. Im just sharing with you mine for those who are not confident in the kitchen and want a starting point as this is such a good easy cake to make. This recipe is from the queen of baking Mary Berry “The Baking Bible” Which I can highly recommend if your looking into getting started with baking its my go to book for everything. Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 25 minutes

Total Time: 35 minutes

A Traditional Birthday Cake

Ingredients

  • 225g Self raising Flour
  • 225g Caster sugar
  • 225g Butter
  • 4 large Eggs
  • 2 level teaspoons baking powder

Instructions

  1. Pre heat the oven to 180'c
  2. Line and grease two 20cm round tins.
  3. Place all the ingredients above into a bowl and using either a freestanding or a handheld mixer. Give it a good beat until its light and smooth.
  4. Divide the mixture into the two tins and place in the oven for 20 - 25 mins
  5. Once golden and the skewer comes out clean its done
  6. Allow to cool then use whatever Jam you enjoy.

Notes

To make this more indulgent add some whipped cream

    I love it your blog is back up and running and I look at your recipes as beginners, intermediate and expert and I fall into all these categories. So when my kitchen is finished as I have nothing in it at the moment i can’t try any of f these wonderful recipes, but by god when it’s done it will be action station ready steady bake 🍰🧁🍪😀😘💕
